The inaugural episode of the 1544 Miles to Omaha Podcast has arrived! Our first guest to talk about Titan Baseball is Mel Franks, now retired Sports Information Director for Cal State Fullerton.

Mel Franks served as the CSUF SID for 32 years, spanning three decades of College World Series championship wins. His wealth of knowledge of the Titan Baseball program, its history and the College World Series is unmatched. Mel Franks has traveled to Omaha 13 times when the Fullerton Baseball team would make their seemingly annual trip to the College World Series.

Part 1 of the 1544 Miles to Omaha POdcast includes Mel talking about the early roots of Titan Baseball not having electricity at the field, how the four national championships would not have been possible without the 1975 Titans advancing to Omaha in their first year of Division One eligibility. Mel also tries to pick his favorite Titan baseball team and the rigors of postseason play competing against schools with bigger budgets and formidable facilities while excelling more times than not.
