What does this make possible?

When unexpected change comes our first reaction is often one of fear or anger.  We want to hang on to things as they were.  But a healthier response may be to ask (in the wise words of Gail Hyatt) “What does this make possible?”  In this episode we hear from listeners who have been confronted with unwelcome change, and I share about our cease and desist order regarding having live events at the Sanctuary.

1. The dealership I’m at has just changed their pay plan, and ALL of the salespeople are bummed out about it. I guess this was the motivation I needed to look for other work or another dealership.
2. How do you differentiate between naysayers/whiners versus realists and intuitionists?
3. Are we too scattered? Do we have too many things going on to do any of them well?
4. I know I have a lot of good idea,s but I’m having trouble keeping myself motivated.
5. I want to use my associate degree in accounting but fear that I will not make as much as I’m making now working in a steel shop.

  • 11:34 – The CEO told The Washington Post that they were touched by the story
  • 11:49 – The Metropolitan Opera approached a store and purchased a brand new violin for Mark
  • 12:01 – Dan remembers the movie, The Soloist, from this story
• 12:40 – Last night, Dan was at a dinner with his friends and found out Mike, another friend, left his wallet on the airplane
  • 13:22 – He tried to call but it didn’t through
  • 14:29 – Dan used Joanne’s car and offered to drive Mike to his AirBnB
  • 14:55 – At the parking lot, Mike got an email from an executive from United Airlines saying they have his wallet
  • 15:09 – The airline found his wallet, took his name, took details of his reservation and contacted him from there
  • 15:19 – The executive put in her personal phone number so Mike didn’t have to go through the corporate phone numbers
  • 15:28 – He immediately called her to pick it up
  • 15:44 – Dan drove them back to the airport to get the wallet
