Just as we were about to launch our podcast, Bailey Marks, Sr. passed away. Bailey was my boss, my mentor, and my friend. But he was so much more.

Bailey is the reason this podcast exists - not just because he started Legacy, the project from which this podcast was born, but because he embodied the life 78:4 promises.

I've been trying to find the words that best sum up his life and ministry, but that's no easy task. He was a businessman in Birmingham, Alabama, when he came to know Jesus in a personal, life-changing way. Not long after that, he joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ (now known as in the US as Cru). The scope of his work with Cru was worldwide. He influenced people on every continent except Antarctica, and even then, I wouldn't be surprised to find someone serving in some South Pole station who had gained some knowledge about the Lord because of Bailey. It's no exaggeration to say that hundreds of millions of people heard about God's love and forgiveness because of him. But more than that were the individual lives he touched. I can't tell you how many times since his passing that I've heard, "He challenged me to join (Cru) staff," or, "I served in Asia because of him," or, "He changed my life." He was a needed encourager, a talented leader, a loyal friend, a wise counselor, and a dedicated servant of Christ.

In episodes 7 and 8, we talk about living a Spirit-filled life, a life filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control. It's the abundant life Jesus promised. It's a life of power and purpose. Bailey, who is the last person you'll hear in episode 7, lived that kind of life, and he helped others live it, too. It's the same kind of life you can have as well if you say, "Yes," to allowing God to work in and through you.

You are the reason Bailey created Legacy. He wanted to see every follower of Christ reach their highest potential empowered by the Holy Spirit. He wanted you to be all God created you to be. There was nothing out of the ordinary about Bailey, but God used him to touch the lives of countless millions of people. Imagine what God can do if you only allow Him to work through you.
