Mako Bron  joined John on the Phone to discuss his new single "Something Always  and upcoming EP Launch "Mirror Mirror "

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mako Bron doesn’t believe the world can be interpreted in a literal sense and his music weaves its way between supernatural themes, neo-tech philosophy and the churning realities of mental illness, damaged relationships and the frightening state of a warming, unstable world.

Mako has a long history playing, recording and touring with Sydney bands under a different identity.

He’s been compared to Billy Idol, Bloc Party and Digitalism but cites his most significant influences as Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure and The Smiths. With more than a touch of DIY synth-wave style nostalgia, Mako pieces together guitars, synths, beats and occasional live drums to blend the synthetic with organic, the robot with the human and the past with the future.

His catchy melodies subvert the darkness of his lyrics. Drawing from authors such as Haruki Murakami, David Mitchel and Stephen King, Mako touches on narratives of magical realism and fantasy as a vehicle for the human experience. In a world where everything is a story, Mako wonders, do we even exist or are we just part of an elaborate futuristic simulation run by robots?
