In Podcast Episode 99, “If You Want to Return to the Lord with All Your Heart,” Kim discusses the instructions Samuel gave the Israelites on how to return to the Lord with all of their hearts and how his advice is still applicable today.
The primary scripture text for this episode is 1 Samuel 7:1-9, with the key verse being 3:
3 Then Samuel said to all the people of Israel, “If you want to return to the Lord with all your hearts, get rid of your foreign gods and your images of Ashtoreth. Turn your hearts to the Lord and obey him alone; then he will rescue you from the Philistines.”
If you want to return to the Lord:
- Come with ALL of your heart;
- 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
- Get rid of all idols;
- 14 So, my dear friends, flee from the worship of idols. (I Corinthians 10:14)
- Turn your heart to the Lord;
- 13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. (Jeremiah 29:13)
- Obey God alone.
- 15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. (John 14:15)
