The high school football season starts this week in Michigan. I caught up with head coaches at six different schools to discuss their teams and expectations.

Tyrice Grice has been with West Bloomfield for nearly 10 years, but this season is his first as head coach of the Lakers. The goal for his team remains the same: continue to play at a high level and repeat as state champions, even with the target on their back from other teams.

Tony Patritto won a state title with Rochester Adams in his first season as the coach of the Highlanders back in 2003. This year is all about teaching his guys to have resilience as they look to rebound from a tough season in 2020.

John Blackstock's Lake Orion Dragons had some games slip away from them in 2020. This year is all about reaching for the success they had two years ago.

Aaron Marshall had tremendous success as a player in high school and college. Now in his first season as the head coach at Southfield A&T, he plans to bring that kind of success to his hometown football team.

Kevin Townsend guided his Freeland Falcons to the state semifinals last year and brings back a lot of talent to his year's group. Even though the Falcons moved up to Division 4 this season, the goal to reach the state finals remains the same.

Joe Spencer guided Swartz Creek to a remarkable turnaround in 2020. The Dragons hope to build on that success this year.
