Are you a “What’s Next” kind of person?

What I mean by this is do you find yourself constantly worrying about what’s in the future compared to what’s in front of you?

I CONSTANTLY find myself doing this…

If I eat healthily or have a delicious meal I will literally be thinking about what I should be having for my next meal before I am even done with the one in front of me!

Or another big one I have gone through is…

Right after I pay all the bills for the month I am already trying to figure out our finances for the next 6 months just so that I can be prepared for it

In both circumstances, I am always pushing my mind to think of “What’s Next”...

I honestly started to get so frustrated thinking this way, because I was never fully satisfied with what I had or what I accomplished because I wasn’t actually living for the day, I was living for the future.

The problem with this is that right now, today I am alive, happy and healthy, but I have no idea what tomorrow brings…

Something could happen tomorrow that could alter my plans for the future entirely…

So why was I focussing so much on the future?

Well honestly after asking myself this many times I came to my answer…

I was scared of uncertainty, I was scared of the unknown…

To counteract my insecurity I tried to plan my way through it….

Obviously, that never works, as well all know Life rarely goes according to plans!

But even having this knowledge I was still always catching myself focussing on the “What’s Next” mentality, even though I knew I was wasting my time and I truly was starting to miss out on the enjoyment of so many amazing things that were right in front of me…

Until…

One day I had a major realization!

When Jesus gave us the Lord's Prayer, it says clearly in 6:11. “Give us this day our DAILY bread.”

Not our weekly bread, not our monthly bread, BUT OUR DAILY BREAD

This made me reconsider everything, all this time I have been wasting, trying to plan every single thing for my future and what I do next and meanwhile Jesus is telling me to just ask for what I need today!

This meant that I needed to give up control of my future, and instead, rely on God to provide the things I need and to plan the future…

I needed to stop trying to control the outcome and instead control where I was putting my focus…

It wasn’t easy and It’s something that I work on every day but when I make the conscious effort to put my focus and reliance on God instead of on the future and my own plans…

Well, everything turns out way better than I could ever plan because my plans are limited to what I can see, but God's plans have no limits!

So when you make the decision to start your healthy lifestyle, don’t worry about how you will maintain it a week from now or a month from now…

Instead focus on today, deal with what is in front of you and put your reliance on God. That way you will always have success!
