Many of us have been deceived by what the Bible calls, “ravenous wolves”. Many lives have been destroyed by the appetites of these wolves who claim that they are sent by God, yet God clearly tells us, “And the LORD said to me: The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds”. Jeremiah 14:14. But the dangerous misconception here is that we use their ravenous appetites that have devoured our souls as a good reason to turn away from God, to deny God, to claim that He does not exist and to declare that there is no need to follow Jesus. That, is a dangerous misconception. We are lying to ourselves. “Jesus said to him, “ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.” John 14:6. These ravenous wolves exist and they lie and mislead and destroy many, while using God’s name, when God did not send them. “They have seen false visions and lying divinations. They say, “Declares the LORD,” when the LORD has not sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfill their word” Ezekiel 13:6. Let me make it clear that NOT ALL prophets are false, ravenous wolves, but sadly there are many of them roving the world looking for who they can devour next. We need to protect ourselves. The best way to do is by surrendering and yielding to the Spirit of Truth. God’s Spirit, the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that filled Jesus and kept Him. We need to be vigilant, have insight, and be discerning. Only the Holy Spirit can help us discern these wolves. Only He can empower us. That same Spirit that helped Jesus. “And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of Counsel and Might, and the Spirit of Knowledge and the fear of the LORD.” Isaiah 11-2. We cannot allow these wolves to determine our belief or unbelief in God. We are responsible for that. We cannot use them as a reason or excuse to not believe in God and follow Jesus. That, is a very dangerous misconception.
