But many times we see people do purchase such land due to its low cost. They even pay the stamp duty while purchasing the Land. But when they go for its recording at the Talathi office in the Land records i.e. 7/12 ( jamabandi – khevat- Khatami )there they are asked whether they are farmers or not? If their answer is negative the land is straight away written off as Government Land ( sarkarjama) So if you do not have a farmer certificate and if you buy agricultural land then it is written off as Government Land when you bring it on 7/12 i.e. official records In India, very few states have policies wherein even non-farmers can buy agricultural land. And this is the only available shortcut of becoming a farmer. These states are Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka.
