Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has dismissed a move by the prime minister to expel the African Union’s special representative in the country.A Nigerian court has ordered the government to enforce the country's gender policy which stipulates that 35% of appointments in public offices be reserved for women – the ruling has been hailed by rights campaigners.

And in an unprecedented ruling in Kenya, fathers can be given full custody of children under 10-years-old. The court says parental responsibility should not automatically go to women.
