“We were best friends, very close, and I can't remember one piece of advice. That generation didn't helicopter, but let kids figure it out on their own and I think that helped us mature at a much younger age. If there was a lot of advice, it was so subtle, I didn't notice. Parents back then taught by example. There were also many things that you just "knew", like making money as soon as you could to help pay your expenses and save for college.
