After a 6-year saga between the U.S. Women's national soccer team and the U.S. soccer federation, with the women fighting for equal pay with the men's team, a legal settlement was reached in the amount of $24 MILLION, a majority of which would go to the women's players in back pay. The settlement was, in essence, an acceptance by the federation, that despite generating similar amounts of revenue in ticket sales in recent years, pay between male and female soccer players had been lopsided.

In this week's episode, we cover the issue of the gender pay gap across sports. Specifically diving into the U.S. WNT legal settlement, we talk about the necessity to test the generalizations made about revenue generation between men's vs. women's sports. We also dived into how this is assessed across sports - in tennis, what is the impact of equal pay in Grand Slams but uneven pay in ATP / WTA tournaments? Is the 100's model of equal pay in cricket expandable? What does the gender gap look like in the NBA / WNBA and in the UFC?

Also, stick around till the end for the quiz, focused on women's sports!
