Episode 123: My Friend Joe Talbot (IDLES) - a podcast by David James Young

Most guests of the podcast spend ages traversing different bands before they land on The One. For Joe Talbot, all he has ever known as a vocalist, songwriter and performer has been IDLES since they first formed back in 2009. His perseverance with the band has come to pay off with major dividends, as the Bristol-based band rose to major indie stardom in 2018 with their critically-adored second album, Joy As An Act Of Resistance. In a candid chat in the Gallery Bar of Sydney's Oxford Art Factory - while the rest of his bandmates learn how to play Streets songs - Talbot explains his initial love of music, the rise and fall of UK indie and what one learns from relentless touring.

A huge thank-you to Bree Wilkinson at Inertia Music and to Adam Buncher for their assistance on this episode.
