For many guests on , high school is a place to cut your teeth, learn some covers and jam in your friend's garage. Gab Strum - AKA Japanese Wallpaper - is not your average guest. He's not even your average musician. He took to his laptop rather than guitars or drums, and with the first musical project he ever concocted he was lifted to national attention through winning triple j's Unearthed High competition.Bar Bands

It's been one thing after another ever since - sold-out national tours, international interest, joining an indie rock band and teaming up with Allday to make the biggest tracks of either's career. While in Sydney supporting UK pop megastar Lily Allen, Gab ducked out of soundcheck to share his own tale of transformation from bedroom-dweller to theatre-filler.

Japanese Wallpaper will be opening for Tycho at The Forum in Melbourne on July 23.
