Episode 147: My Friends La Dispute - a podcast by David James Young

They may be tiny dots on an endless timeline, but La Dispute have made their time together count. Over 15 years and four studio albums, plus a dozen EPs and countless tours, the band's unique and poetic take on post-hardcore has endeared them to a global audience. Theirs is the definition of a cult following - they may not pack arenas, but everyone at a La Dispute show will scream every last word right back in the band's face. One of the band's key turning points was coming to Australia for a completely DIY national tour back in 2009, and the country has become a second home for the band - quite literally in drummer Brad Vander Lugt's case, as he now lives on the Sunshine Coast with his family. Both he and vocalist Jordan Dreyer - not only cousins, but the founding members of the band - tracked the band's history before one of the final stops on their most recent tour, at the Cambridge Hotel in Newcastle.
