In this episode of Angel Foods Show, I interview Sarah from Beachside Bakery. From friends and family encouragement (sound familiar) she started baking cakes that she enjoyed doing and as a creative outlet, an income stream and involved in her community.  Sarah shares her Facebook, Instagram and networking strategies that are getting her orders!

Sponsor: Cake Business SchoolYes, it’s possible for you to start earning $4000+ per monthly revenue selling sweets. And you don’t have to work 24/7 or sell a piece-of-art cake for 20 dollars. Enrol for just $1 here – http://cakebusinessschool.com

We also discuss:

  • setting up cake business, coming up with a name and getting a logo
  • not sure if ready, not confident, unsure of a product
  • linking in with other businesses
  • building up a portfolio
  • Facebook advertising and targeting
  • Instagram marketing
  • a goal of more wedding cake orders
  • always asking with orders ‘how did you hear about us’
  • struggling learning own limits and capabilities
  • time management and own worst critic

Sarah said the linking with other businesses and networking and collaborating together has gotten the best results for her. For example, they would repost each other’s posts and it would be mutually beneficial.

In the last 5 months, Sarah Instagram marketing has changed. She said there is a definate difference in the demographic (versus Facebook). Sarah’s strategy is posting a couple of times of the week, a lot of colour, a lot brighter images, with backdrops and that is doing well. There is also a guest expert inside Cake Business School on how to maximise and ‘pimp’ your Instagram account to get orders.

Sarah posts on Facebook business page 1-2 per week, as she sees the business page as more of a ‘business front’. Giving other business ‘shout outs’ or reposting. Then shares to personal page and then share into Facebook groups (here is how to find customers in a group). Interaction & engagement is when people like and comment on your posts. The more engagement and interaction the more that the group posts will show up in their newsfeed! Here are 6 ideas on how to get Facebook interaction and engagement.

And what has gotten Sarah the best results? Colourful bakes. They are what she enjoys more and promotes more which gets more orders. Check out our Instagram and Facebook pages for baking inspiration!
