Ajaa is owned by Astrid Affiba , Online Only. I’m a jewelry designer from Ivory Coast and a student in the US. Ajaa is selling African Handmade Jewelry for women and men but also home accessories. As jewelry you could find ankle bracelets, bracelets with beads or stone beads, gold necklaces and the main jewelry waist beads AKA baya in Ivory Coast or Tomi in Ghana. This jewelry is part of the African culture since the 18th dynasty in the Kemet empire it was common among populations for young unmarried girl to walk around completely naked as a badge of honor for their youthful beauty wearing only waist beads, bracelets, and necklaces. When they were married they were giving other waist beads to mark her initiation from daughters only to wives. So waist beads represent all the steps of women life. Waist beads are actually not valued as they should. They are a symbol of femininity, fertility, sensuality, and spiritual well-being and through them we are promoting body positivity because a lot of women are victims of body shaming rejecting their body due to social media, a lot of celebrities who sell an image of what a woman should look like to be attractive and society. I have talked a lot about women but I have to mention that since I started it is common for me to have men from the LGBTQ community buying just to mentioned that Ajaa is a safe zone for everybody ! We also promote the luxurious part of it since it is part of your life, it became a part of your Queendom which is your body !
We are also selling jewelry dishes and ashtrays all handmade and designed.
