This is Great British Bosses from Anything but Footy, the podcast where we profile the men and women responsible for running sport in this country, from grassroots participation to those medal moments at Olympic, Paralympic and elite level.
In this episode we speak to Huw Edwards who is the CEO of UK Active. They are the body that is responsible for improving the healty of the nation by getting more people more active. In 2020, this aim has never been more important as participation levels in sport dropped dramatically during the first lockdown.This episode was recorded on the first day of the second lockdown and Huw pleads with Government to hear and heed the message UK Active promotes, as he believes the closure of sports and leisure facilities is having a massive detrimental effect on the nation's health and wellbeing.
Huw also reflects on his time as part of the team who delivered the London Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012 and discusses what the true legacy of the event was, especially in light of the global pandemic.This is Great British Bosses from Anything but Footy.
