In the 1920s, Los Tres Grandes--Rivera, Orozco and Siqueiros--created murals throughout Mexico in an effort to reunify the country under the new Mexican Communist Party regime. After the 1929 stock market crash, the United States government commissioned these same men to paint murals that would lift the spirits of the American people and restore their faith in their capitalistic government.
