Jim and Mike Have Always Been Live

2:15Mike Howard from jpeg2raw.com talk about how they have done all their shows live. Mike uses Vmix Video Switching Software.

 Staying Focused While Doing Live

7:36 Have everything setup ahead of time is key. It gets hard to handle all the technology along with a chat room etc.

Nick Sueberling's Live Call Experiencce

9:27  Nick did a live remote with a brand new piece of equipment. He ended up having lots of issues having the microphones work properly.

The Audio-Technica ATR2100-USB Cardioid Dynamic USB/XLR Microphone
is a great microphone, but you do need to turn up the gain to have it work properly. He is using the Mackie 1402VLZ mixer. It allows two mix minus setups from a single mixer.

Mike uses a DBX 166xs Compressor/Limiter Gate to boost the microphone input.

Dave Calls in from a Stairwell at Wordcamp North Canton on His iPad

17:50 Dave is flashing back to his days attending Stark State University for Wordcamp North Canton. Dave mentions that Spotify is getting into Podcasting (it was a rumor, and now its reality).

Dave talks about giving up the show for a week. Jim is having the fun with the jingles.

Working with Guests

24:00 We grew up dreaming out video phones and now people are calling using iPads

Jim and Mike are accountability partners, and they use each other to test out new technology.

Jim and Mike have a standard form for guests.

Live shows are great, especially when a power supply blows up in your machine.

Can I Compress a Guest?

45:30 He taking a guess over the Internet, and wants to compress the guest audio. He has the audio out of a second computer and goes into the Limiter/Gate and then into the Mixer. The magic that makes this works.

You need to isolate the guest to treat their audio separately.

Jim's Setup

54:41 Jim uses a broadcast server to unite all the audio together
