Revelation 2:1-7 | Rev. Dr. R. Brandon Harris | Many churches exist as tourist destinations where visitors come from another land to experience and participate in a peculiar reality before journeying back to their homes and their "real" lives. The church in Ephesus had become such a church, when it once had been a thriving, deeply connected congregation.
This sermon will pose the challenge to the church in terms of its disconnection from its first love (responsiveness to God's call) and, thus, from the natural receptacle of that love (the world). Then, it will trace elements of what it looks like to live relevant, mission-oriented, God-sent lives at the margin of "somewhere."
