I Believe He Will Come Again - a podcast by Avondale UMC

Matthew 24:36-44; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 | Rev. Dr. R. Brandon Harris | A fundamental tenet of the Christian faith is that Jesus Christ will come again. But the manner of his coming again is a question that has long been debated. Rapture theology is a fairly recent intruder into this debate. The concept of the rapture is based upon a misunderstanding of two bible verses due to their being taken out of cultural and theological context.
This sermon will trace the history of rapture theology and explore in detail why rapture is untenable interpretation of these passages in particular. It will also touch upon the doctrine of the parousia (second coming) and what a biblically tenable vision of Christ's return looks like.
