Based on the 1966 Truman Capote novel of the same name, In Cold Blood is a 1967 true crime noir thriller about the 1959 murder’s of the Clutter family in rural Kansas. We are joined on this podcast by Robert Mehling of the Sioux Empire Podcast, and true crime horror junkie, to discuss the Richard Brooks adaptation in week one of our True Crime Series.

In Cold Blood is based on the true crime story of the 1959 murder of the Clutter family by Perry Smith and Dick Hickock. Smith (Robert Blake), is a Korean War veteran recently released on parole who links up with former prison buddy Hickock (Scott Wilson) as the two are tipped off that a farming family in rural Kansas has $10,000 in a hidden safe. Upon the ex-inmates arriving to the Clutter household, the two find a measly $40 in cash, yet both are determined to leave no witness’s behind.
