Happy Halloween! Welcome to the 50th Episode of the Back Lot 605 Podcast. With Halloween just around the corner, we thought of no better way to celebrate the spooky season by sharing our favorite Halloween traditions. We talk about our favorite costumes, candy, and of course our favorite movies to watch on Halloween! What are some of your Halloween traditions? Let us know!









The Box Office







Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil tops the box office with a $36.9 million opening. Last week’s number one, Joker, takes in $29 million in it’s second weekend out. Zombieland 2: Double Tap takes in $26.8 million in the number three spot. Noteworthy, Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite takes the number 11 spot with $1.2 million in only 33 theaters.







The News







The Matt Reeves directed Batman film has found it’s Catwoman and Riddler. Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max Fury Road) joins the cast as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman. Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood) joins the cast as Edward Nigma, aka The Riddler.







In other casting news, Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) has been cast in the GI Joe spinoff, Snake Eyes. Neil Patrick Harris (Gone Girl) joins the cast of The Matrix 4. Furthermore, John Krasinski (A Quiet Place) is set to write, direct, and star in Imaginary Friends. Krasinski will star alongside Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) in the film.







Robert Eggers (The Witch) has announced his next project, along with a cast. This Viking revenge tale, The Northman, has the backing by a stellar cast. Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Bill Skarsgard, Alexander Skarsgard, and Anya Taylor-Joy round out the cast. The revenge film is set in Iceland during the 10th century.







Finally, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell announce that Evil Dead 4 is on the way, with a new director. Raimi will not return to direct, rather he will hand pick the next director and executive produce the film. Raimi has also announced he will return to the directing chair in a new feature film. The yet untitled film is described as a mix between Misery and Cast Away.
