Welcome to a super-sized edition of the Back Lot 605 Podcast! This week on the show, hosts Casey Kelderman and Brian Mensing are joined by fellow movie schmucks Chris Schlapkohl and Blake Ginithan. The Schmuck Club break down the box office and the biggest news from San Diego Comic Con 2019. In our main topic we rank each of the films from one, Quentin Tarantino!

The Box Office

Disney rules the domestic box office once again. The Lion King opens at number one with over $185 million. In the biggest box office news of the week, Avengers: Endgame becomes the highest grossing film of all time. Endgame tops Avatar with over $2.79 billion worldwide.

The News

In a week filled with new trailers, casting, and title reveals, we will split the news up into little pockets so they are easy to digest. First off, the casting news. Oliver Jackson Cohen (The Haunting of Hill House) has been cast as the Invisible Man. Cohen will play the lead in Leigh Whannell directed film. Austin Butler has been cast as Elvis Presley in the Baz Luhrmann directed biopic. Lastly, Edward Furlong will return as John Conner in Terminator: Dark Fate.

In Marvel news, we have new titles for set for the studios Phase 4. Black Widow arrives first on May 1, 2020. Eternals hits theaters November 6, 2020. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set for February 12, 2021. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters May 7, 2021. Thor: Love and Thunder releases November 5, 2021. Lastly, Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali will play Blade in the Marvel Universe.

Ranking the Films of Quentin Tarantino

In possibly our most daunting task to date. The Schmuck Club rank every film in Tarantino’s filmography. To do so we play a game in which each person draws two numbers from a deck of eight. With each number the player will lay down said number and a film to coincide with that number. This game could create friends, or make bitter enemies. Much like a Tarantino film.
