Welcome to Episode 59 of the Back Lot 605 Podcast. This weekend saw the release of a little indie film by the title of Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker. Jokes aside this episode is a very serious matter. We will be the first, and only, people to ever talk Star Wars on the internet. Here we will give our spoiler-filled thoughts on The Rise of Skywalker and the new trilogy. Did you have a chance to see the film this weekend? The Box Office







The Rise of Skywalker tops the weekend box office with $175 million. Jumanji: The Next Level continues strong with $26 million at the number two spot. At number three this weekend is Frozen II with $12.3 million. Cats opens at number four with $6.5 million. Finally, Knives Out rounds out the top five with $6.1 million.







The News







This week was relatively slow for film news. We did get a first look at the follow up to A Quiet Place with a 30-second teaser. A Quiet Place II opens March 2020.







We also get our first full trailer for Top Gun: Maverick. The film opens June 26, 2020.







Finally, a fourth Jackass film has been announced for a 2021 release.
