Tater Tot and Patton is a 2017 independent film written and directed by South Dakota native Andrew Kightlinger. Not only did Kightlinger decide to set this film in the heartland of South Dakota, but he also shot the film there as well. Kightlinger grew up in Pierre and attended college at Augustana University in Sioux Falls.

The film stars Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) and Bates Wilder (Joy). Tater Tot & Patton follows a wayward millennial as she makes her way to visit her alcoholic uncle in the great plains of South Dakota.

Kightlinger was gracious enough to sit down with Back Lot 605’s own Casey Kelderman. The full interview is available above. The film will make it’s rounds across the state in an effort to gain nationwide distribution for the film. The full schedule for the Tater Tot & Patton screenings is available below.
