The Box Office







Spider-Man: Far From Home comes in at number one with a $45 million second weekend. Toy Story 4 continues strong with $20 million at number two. New releases Crawl and Stuber struggle with a $12 and $8 million opening respectively.







The News







We remember the life of great character actor Rip Torn who passed away this last week at the age of 88. Torn is most known for his work in Men in Black, Dodgeball, and The Larry Sanders Show.







Joker director Todd Phillips has pitched a new “universe” for DC and Warner Bros. This “universe” would consist of else-world story-lines and not be beholden to the comic book source material. Phillips hope is to create more character driven story-lines rather than big action spectacles.







Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to join the Chris Rock produced Saw film. Jackson is rumored to be playing the father of Rock’s characters. This has not been confirmed by the studio at this point.







Lastly, Hasbro is set to reboot the big screen version of the Power Rangers once again. After the moderately successful 2017 film, the company has decided to take the teenagers with attitude in a new direction.
