Released to critical acclaim in 2011, The Help stars Viola Davis as a housemaid in the 1960’s for a white family in Jackson, Mississippi who forms an unlikely kinship with newspaper journalist Skeeter, played by Emma Stone. The two look to tell the story of the hardships and racial divide of the Mississippi housemaids, including the very vocal Minny (Octavia Spencer). Against all odds the three women join forces to share the story of many women in the town, and amidst hardships and scrutiny they prevail.
