Welcome to the first annual Schmuckies! Are you sick of the Academy Awards getting it wrong every year? Well so are we! The Schmuckies are here to provide a voice for the voiceless. Here we select our favorite films, directors, and actors from the past year in film. For this very prestigious award show the winners will be presented with the coveted Golden Thumbs Up Award.























The Box Office







Bad Boys for Life once again tops the box office with a $17.6 million 3rd weekend. 1917 continues it’s impressive box office run in it’s 6th weekend with $9.6 million. Dolittle takes the number three spot with $7.7 million. Coming just narrowly at number four is Gretel and Hansel with $6.05 million. Finally, The Gentlemen comes in with $6.01 million at number five.







The News







Paul Reubens has been quoted as stating he would be interest in making a “dark” Pee Wee Herman film. That is under one condition. The actor wants Josh and Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems) to direct. No word yet as to the Safdie brothers thoughts on the project.







Blumhouse and Universal Pictures have announced plans to remake/reboot The Thing. The Thing is most know from the 1982 John Carpenter film starring Kurt Russell. This property has already hit the big screen on three separate occasions. The new film is said to include lost chapters from the original novel.







Taron Egerton is in talks to take on the lead role of Seymour in The Little Shop of Horrors remake. Taron most recently took on the role of Elton John in the critically acclaimed Rocketman.







Lastly, the first poster, teaser, and full trailer for Fast 9 hit the web. The poster shows off the main cast, accompanied by of course by a car. The first trailer gives some major insight into the plot and a major returning character. Watch the full trailer below.
