Following on from Aly Dixon’s chat with Claire last week, we’ve a pretty marathon-heavy pod. Mo Farah is hopping on a plane to get good at running them; Jonny Mellor won’t be getting on a plane, despite having raced one really fast; and Dewi Griffiths wasn’t thinking about planes at all when he made his debut in Frankfurt – he was far too busy becoming one of the fastest Brits of all time. We also – sat in front of the New York coverage – contemplate the English Commonwealth squad, debate the IAAF’s proposed rankings system, and await the seemingly-inevitable tactical error by stellar talent, Mary Keitany. Keitany duly delivered, as did Shalane Flanagan. Shalane – we’ll raise a glass to you and your astonishing achievement next time. Congratulations.
