Lisa Merlo-Booth is a shining example of a woman who owns her own power and badassery, and helps others stand up for themselves to live a life that is full of respect, accountability, and power. She joins the show to talk about the ways she sees women shrinking from their full potential and what we can do about it, how to stand up against bullies, her new book The Rising: A Revolution for Women, and why she believes that the world changes for women when they change how they walk in it.

What You Will Hear in This Episode:

  • ? Both in her own childhood and throughout her private practice, Lisa witnessed the dynamic of women staying silent and complicit to men’s bad behavior. This made her want to take on not just men, but whoever in the relationship was using their power and anger as a weapon.
  • ? Grounded Powerful Strength, or GPS, is the power that comes from within, not power over another person.
  • ? One of the principles of GPS is to do no harm to others and allow others to do no harm to you.
  • ? The three steps for taking on a bully and stopping the behavior in its tracks: Mirror the behavior, make a request, and then set limits. Train the bully that what they are doing doesn’t work.
  • ? It does take a lot of badass courage to stand up to someone and let them know you aren’t playing their games, but it becomes easier over time and experience.
  • ? A limit is different than a threat. It’s important to show that when you set limits, you follow through and do what you said you were going to do.
  • ? Get conscious of how you are showing up and the choices you are making. It starts with each one of us owning who we are and our personal power.
