Across the nation voters in blue states are confronting a host of restrictions on their civil rights and civil liberties ostensibly related to the Coronavirus pandemic. Opportunism abounds. Although Nashville, Tennessee is in a red state, the mayor has used the coronavirus as an excuse to dramatically raise taxes at a time people are suffering because of government actions. In this episode I interview Carey Bringle, a native Nashvillian who owns Peg Leg Porker, a restaurant located in the Gulch. Carey shares his views about the proposed tax increase and how it will impact local businesses. Bringle is involved with two organizations fighting to empower voters: notax4nash and 4GoodGovernment. This is the first of a three-part series about Nashville Mayor John Cooper’s proposed 32% property tax increase.
