Bio: Since the age of four, Deke has called Augusta, Georgia, his home. In the mid-2000s, as tensions mounted among political parties, Deke was called to take on the challenge to represent the needs of the people of Augusta. In 2005, at the age of 37, Deke ran for mayor in Augusta and won. As the city’s politics were broken, Deke worked for the next nine years as a changemaker for the city of Augusta by challenging the status quo and working in the face of adversity for a better future. He is currently a best-selling author and consultant who inspires others to embrace adversity and become true changemakers.
