Unfortunately our eyes do deceive us. The bible describes our measure of faith as the things hoped for but not yet seen. An unshakeable belief in that if The Lord has spoken it, then it will come to pass even if not in the temporary place we find ourselves. Chapter 17 gives us a good picture of what living by seeing one miracle to the next looks like and it is anything but stable, and peaceful. Elijah's healing of a boy reminds us that when faith transforms our hearts, it transforms everything else, but faith left in what we see has not yet developed into maturity.
