YOUR’E GETTING OLDER…DO IT THE WAY YOU WANT!
So…this episode is being released on July 29th, 2016.  It’s kind of a special day for me…because 54 years ago today, I climbed into this world kicking and screaming…I peed on a bunch of doctors, and my dad called me a homely little guy.  Yep…today is my birthday.I actually pre-recorded this episode a couple days ago because I am on a road trip with my wife.  We are going to Idaho to visit her family and I plan on doing some fishing and gold panning while I’m there.
Now I know…it’s just now hitting some of you and you are realizing I said I am 54 years old.  To some of you that seems ancient!  Your wondering why I even bother to get up in the morning because I’m so old…I know, because that’s probably what I would have thought when I was your age. It’s really not very old though.  I can still do everything I could do when I was 20.  Some things I might do a little slower…but some things I am way better at than I was then.
So that’s what I’m going to talk about today, age.  It’s a funny thing age.  I was never one of those people who worried about getting older, because I always believed that age was just as much a state of mind as it is a state of body.In fact, I have been looking forward to my 50’s since I was in my 20’s.  I know thats a little unusual, but I always knew I would keep my body in decent shape, and I also realized from studying older men that I would be way, way smarter in my 50’s than I was then.  I’m happy to announce that I was correct!  And let me tell you…imagine how cool it is being about twice as smart as you are now, in a body that you can still do anything you want it!  It’s pretty cool.  And when I say smart, I’m not talking about academic or book smart…I’m talking about life smart.  The kind of smart that allows you to see whats in front of you and appreciate it.  The kind of smart that lets you know life is too short to be upset or angry all the time…you know, life smarts, they make your life better.
Of course…it doesn’t turn out like that for everyone.  I see people now that I went to school with and some of them look like they could be my dad, it’s really quite sad because it is completely unnecessary.  Remember what I aways say; the things you focus on expand?  Well if you focus on being vital and fit and enjoying life…then thats what will expand.  If you focus on the fact that you are getting old…then that is the reality that will expand. In honor of my birthday I decided I would put together a little list of tips that will help you age the way you want to.
1.)  Take care of your body.  Really guys…imagine if you got a car when you were 16 and you had to depend on it for the rest of your life.  Well, that’s what your body is.  So stay active and stop eating crap.  That means no soda and very little processed food.  Try to eat food that only has one ingredient, which is also the name of what you are eating, and drink lots of water and get plenty of sleep.2.)  Take chances, try new things, don’t ever let fear stop you from doing something.  In fact, if you are afraid to do something that is probably a sign that it’s exactly what you should do.
3.)  Never become satisfied with where you are.  Men are designed to always be hunting, always looking out for a better situation.  If you become complacent, if you find yourself feeling like you have the perfect life and you have everything you want…you have a problem.  Because life is not about the destination, it’s about the journey.  If your journey ends because you become complacent then your life will follow soon after, and your happiness will be short.  Always having a new project, a new goal or a new milestone to conquer is what makes life worth living.4.)  Don’t let anyone, or anything, or any organization design your life for you.  You have to design your own life.  I know people that have lived someone...
