Facebook's head of safety Antigone Davis has testified to the US Senate about Instagram, which is owned by the company, and its impact on children. The Wall St Journal reported in recent weeks that the company's internal research showed that it knew it harmed teenage girls in particular and caused them to feel badly about themselves and their bodies. The research has been criticised as deeply flawed. It comes just days after the company paused its scheduled roll-out of Instagram Kids, which had been due to launch this year for users aged under 13.

Today's Justin Webb speaks to Richard Allan, former Vice President of Policy Solutions and European director of public policy at Facebook who worked at the company for ten years.
