Boris Johnson's former chief adviser Dominic Cummings has made a series of claims about mistakes made by the government during the Covid pandemic including an assertion that tens of thousands of people died unnecessarily due to policy failure, dithering and having no useful plan.

Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick told R4 Today programme Mishal Husain he believed Mr Cummings' allegation was wrong.

Mishal also heard from Labour's deputy leader Angela Rayner and Professor Neil Ferguson of Imperial College.
