Press intrusion after terror attacks ‘endemic’ - a podcast by BBC Radio 4

The Survivors Against Terror group has released recommendations for the press when it comes to reporting on victims of terror attacks. Many families say that their loss is made even worse by the behaviour of the media. The report calls for the media not to contact the bereaved or seriously injured for at least 48 hours after an attack.

Figen Murray, who lost her son Martyn Hett in the Manchester Arena bombing, and Darryn Frost, who helped fight off the Fishmonger’s Hall attacker with a narwal tusk, speak to Today’s Martha Kearney about their experience with the media. Former editor of The Sun, David Yelland, also discusses how journalists should respond to the report.
