Dr Werner is a scientist, researcher, and specialist in mineral therapy based in Munich, Germany. She is the Head of Medicine & Science at Protina – the German-based company who manufactures mineral-based formulas such as Basica Active and Magnesium Diasporal, amongst others.

Dr Werner studied nutrition at the Technical University of Munich and then gained her doctorate on "The Biofunctionality of Food". Dr Werner is the author or co-author for numerous scientific publications, mainly focussed on the biochemistry of minerals, trace elements and vitamins, as well as the importance of acid-base homeostasis in health and disease. Dr Werner is a member of the Society for Magnesium Research and the Society for Minerals and Trace Elements. She is also a member of the Committee for Self-Medication within the Federal Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (BPI), Germany.
