The Harringtons, a typical all-American dysfunctional family, are on their way to a Christmas get-together when they are beset by a barrage of strange occurrences. A ghostly woman in white appears seemingly out of nowhere, they find themselves followed by a hearse, and worst of all, the long stretch of road they’re on leads to nowhere.

2003’s DEAD END is often called a feature-length episode of “The Twilight Zone” and it’s easy to see where those conclusions are drawn. It’s a strange little movie filled with strange characters and strange circumstances. Though it has become something of a cult classic, I find it a little tedious, despite its short running time. For me, the movie’s saving grace is the performance by veteran character actress Lin Shaye, who is always fun to watch, no matter how good or bad the movie is.
