It's been two years since we covered the first film in the new IT reboot and It: Chapter Two takes us 27 years later after the kids have grown up and forgotten about Derry. But the evil is still festering, forcing them (and us) to come back to see the final showdown. Andy Muschietti's second film doesn't have the same appeal; it has some strong comedy especially from Bill Hader, but that comedy feels overused, losing a lot of the tension of the first film. This overlong movie also suffers from the early decision to break up the kids and adults - in Chapter Two, we're forced to revisit flashback scenes from the first film to put everything into context. On this episode we talk about the film's length, its homosexual subtext, Hader's performance particularly, and a whole lot more about why Chapter Two just doesn't match the first film's success.
