In order to solidify his position at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Thielke earned a silver medal at the 2nd World Olympic Games Qualifier in Istanbul, Turkey. Prior to his Olympic run, Thielke was a member of the 2013 U.S. World Team that competed at the 2013 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary where finished in eighth place. He also won a Junior World bronze medal in 2012.
