The Selly Sportscast - Episode 9 - Ali Jawad! - a podcast by Burn FM

In a desperate attempt to procrastinate amid dissertation deadlines, we spoke to Paralympic medalist and world champion powerlifter Ali Jawad. Ali told us about his rise to weightlifting glory and the setbacks he has had along the way, most notably battling Crohn's disease while competing at the top level. As a PHD student at UoB, we also got into Ali's studies in anti-doping and his role in next year's Commonwealth Games.

We then discussed West Brom's stunning victory over Chelsea and the recent controversy surrounding the treatment of Birmingham City's female players. To finish a jam-packed episode, UoB Cool Runnings president Timon Burford shared some of his tips for running a university sports club as new committees are getting elected.
