The last man alive from world war 2 has passed away at 103 years old. Retired Air Force with tenant colonel dick Cole. He served as James Doolittle's copilot during the raid. sadly to say Tuesday with tenant colonel Cole slip the bonds of Bert and he is now reunited with his fellow raiders. What tenant colonel Cole was one of a few men when we can honestly say changed American history. The attack by 16 B 25 Mitchell bombers on April 18, 1940to set up a series of events that really had a lot to do with the battle of Midway less then 2 months later. The raid was very dangerous many of the men knew they would not make it back they had to take them bombers and fly am off aircraft carrier USS hornet which was something that has never been done before. Already to planes had no chance to return to the carrier they will plan to land in China but when the carrier was spotted by a Japanese ship they had to take off 200 miles soon off from Japan didn't originally planned. All 16 bombers took off successfully and they all hit dead targets. 77 years later we celebrate the life of Lieutenant Colonel Cole.
