An old African proverb says “It takes a Village to Raise a Child.” And at the heart of every village are its families. As LGBTQ families fight for equality, recognition of and protections for our families are a cornerstone of our struggle.

The path to parenthood presents special challenges to our community. Besides the day-to day responsibilities of life with baby, LGBTQ parents must tackle issues around Adoption rights, parental rights/responsibilities and recognition of the family unit is not recognized ......or challenged by discriminatory legislation.

On Wednesday, March 20th CWT4R will look at the challenges facing LGBTQ families from the local and national perspective. Ina, Michelle and Terry Boi will be joined by Denise Brogan-Kator, Senior Legislative Counsel at Family Equality Council (FEC) that connects, represents and supports the 3 million American parents who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and their 6 million children. FEC works to ensure equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender families by building community.

Also on the show will be parents from two LGBT families Aurora & Karen Pineda and Erik & Mark Sosa–Kirby. These couples will share their journey to parenthood, talk about their experiences not only as parents but as couples and share what their happy families look like today
