RUDOLF VON ALT AND HIS TIME.
There are the splendidly vibrant pictures of the princely palaces in today‘s Czech Republic and the city palaces in Vienna on display, but also landscapes from Italy and the Salzkammergut region as well as family portraits and pictures of the princely family’s children.

Besides quality on the highest level the watercolor collection also demonstrates how close the relationship between artists and princely patrons was. The children portraits that Peter Fendi made for example, where he depicted the family offspring as children and not as representatives of the aristocracy, were only possible by living with them over certain periods of time.

The exhibition of watercolors is the second part of the Liechtenstein jubilee exhibition on the occasion of the Tricentennial of the Principality’s foundation. For one part there is an exhibition showing paintings and sculptures "From Rubens to Makart" and for the other there are watercolors from the Biedermeier period with works by Peter Fendi, Joseph Höger and Rudolf von Alt, among others.
