In order to encourage the Corinthians to forfeit their rights for the sake of other Christians, Paul described his entire ministry as one of sacrifice and accommodation to others. This passage brings this perspective to bear on our relationships with other people, especially fellow believers. We should not seek our own rights and privileges but the good of others.
