3 Tough Questions

#2 Is Jesus the ONLY Way?

By Louie Marsh – 11-27-2022

Today we’re going to talk about the ONE thing about Christianity that bothers people the most today! Nice religious teachings are ok – but saying Jesus is the only way to God – That’s offensive!  So lets look at it!

6Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6, ESV)

1) Do All Roads LEAD TO GOD?

Today the Politically Correct thing to say is YES – but that’s not what Jesus said – and that breaks the one sacred rule in our culture – you must never be intolerant!!  Why does Jesus Say this – why are we told to worship the one true God – not the mush God of popular culture?

  • Other Religions say, "I'll show you how to find the truth."

Jesus says, "I AM  the truth!"

  • Other Religions say, "I'll show you the way to salvation."

Jesus says, "I AM  the way to salvation!"

  • Other Religions say, "I'll show you how to become enlightened.”

Jesus says, "I  AM  the light of the world!"

12Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”” (John 8:12, ESV)

Other religions are built around moral teachings, things to be done or not done, but the Christian faith is built around a PERSON – Jesus – He is Who we believe in – Not a set of doctrines!

2) Do verses DONE

30When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” (John 19:30, ESV)

29Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”” (John 6:29, ESV)

The message of Grace is ONLY found in the Christian faith –

EXAMPLE – Both Christ and Buddha told a similar story – about a son who take his inheritance, leaves home, wastes it and finally returns home. You know how Jesus ended the story – The father RAN to the son, forgave and restored him.

In the Buddhist story the son must work off his years of misdeeds by spending years as a slave.

“The parables seem very different, but somehow the same.  In one story the greatness is outside of ourselves in the form of God.  In the other story, our own true nature is already great.  But in both stories, we find peace and love and belonging.” - Ryusenflowingfountain

  • Only One Way Because God Isn't SCHIZOPHRENIC

3) If the Evidence Fits You Must BELIEVE IT!

44Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”” (Luke 24:44, ESV)

37If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me;” (John 10:37, ESV)

22He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.” (1 Peter 2:22, ESV)

4) Yeah But What About Those Who HAVENT’ HEARD?

25Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?”” (Genesis 18:25, ESV)

29“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” (Deuteronomy 29:29, ESV)

5Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.” (1 Corinthians 4:5, ESV)

5) Don't Take My Word For It CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF!

5You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.” (1 John 3:5, ESV)

21And Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. 22And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” 23And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” 24Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”” (Mark 9:21–24, ESV)
