After James and John’s Mother asks for them to sit at the Right and Left…
Jesus says…
“You do not know what you are asking.[j] Can you drink the cup that I am going to drink?” They said to him, “We can.” 23 He replied, “My cup you will indeed drink,”

Jesus points BACK to the CROSS!
Because Jesus knows that PRIDE and AMBITION are DESTROYED by the Cross

The Cross will humble you - and we need humility to be Saints!

Everyone has a cross...
Jesus said “If anyone will follow me, let him deny himself, take up HIS Cross, and follow me.”

My Cross is not the same as yours, and yours is not the same as mine.

It will be in carrying your cross that pride is stripped away!

Ask God to send you a cross, and you will receive it!

Litany of Humility
That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I go unnoticed,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
